Dear father I now imbrace
the oportunity to write
to you a few lines that
I am well at this time
and hopeing you the
same there is greate many
of the boys sick in the
hospittle we had marching
orders last Friday to
Lebanon and we march a bout
15 miles and it raining
verry hard all day
we Camp in a low peasce
of ground and we raised
tents eat our supplers and
there Came a heavy rain
and it ran in to our
tents a bout foot deep
and them that Could not
Swim Clum the center pole
we turn in and made a raft
with some rails and we
got some hay and made
our beds and we slept
fine the next morning we
had to take the back tract
Old Morgan the Rebel
Countermaned the order he
telegraph back to Generl
Beared had us to go back
to Danville where we started
from first thing we no
Old Morgan taken two of
our Regiments at Lisebeth
Town we was going to reinforce
them but we had orders to
go back. that the way
Old Morgan took to get them
the news that was telegraphed
to Generl Beared was that
Morgan was badly whiped
and we took three
hundred prisoners but it
was all a lie that the
way he took to save his own
head. the name of the Regiment
I do not know. we are
still at Danville but I dont
know how long we will stay
well I must bring my
Letter to a Close I have nothing
more importance to write
but I hope when this letter
reaches you it will find
you all well write soon
and tell me the news
