Dear Borther
I taken my pen and
to write a few lines
to you to let you
know that I am well
at present and geting
fat everry day i weigh one
hundred and 65 pounds
i never had my helth
any better sence i been
in the army there is
greate many of the boys
Sick John I have nothing
verry new to tell you
but i hope when this
Letter Comes to hand
it will find you all
well we exspects to go
to Richmond from here
but i dont know how
soon i think this horrible
war will Come to Close
before next Spring if it
dont it never will by
fighting there is thousands
Comeing over from Tenesee
to join our army
there are raged looking
men John give my
best respects to giorge
and Joeph funcanon
and keepe a portion of it
to your self

Spirits we dont have to
work any here and that is
the reason I like it so well
and we can go out to town and
See the girls there is some very
pretty ones there John I will
not be very tedious in this
little as I think Jasper has
wrote the particulars of the
times here I wish you well
respects to you and hope you
will return home safe we
will see each other once more
and have some good times
together as we useto so farwell
